Mission & vision

What drives Vores Kalundborg — and where are we headed? Here's our foundation and direction.

Mission

The merchants' interests — and more

The Vores Kalundborg Merchants' Association looks after the merchants' interests by organising shared events and experiences in the town centre that bring more life and additional revenue for the members.

Vores Kalundborg collaborates with Kalundborg Municipality on matters concerning the members' interests, on developing a welcoming town centre and on attracting more residents to the municipality.

Vision

Vores Kalundborg is Everyone's Kalundborg

Local commerce, and shopping options in general, are absolutely vital to a town's development and a key factor when newcomers consider moving to a new town and municipality.

Today Vores Kalundborg is much more than just the association for merchants. Every single day we work to strengthen the sense of community and make sure we continue to have a lively, charming town centre with plenty of activities for all ages.

That's why the association has well over 100 members — merchants both inside and outside the town centre, numerous professional services, advertising agencies, car dealers, supermarkets, industry, restaurants, the Stejlhøj centre, DIG and many others.

We call it "Love for Kalundborg".

When the vision succeeds

What does the town gain from Vores Kalundborg's work?

A municipality can't shoulder the whole job of bringing the town to life on its own. The municipality must provide the framework, support and contribute — and if everyone else also pulls in the same direction and works for it, it happens.

  • A welcoming town centre
  • More visitors and shoppers in the town
  • More businesses
  • More attractive to settle and live in
  • A positive spiral for our lovely town

Because it takes a positive spiral to create growth instead of decline.

Since 1850

Denmark's oldest merchants' association

Kalundborg Merchants' Association is founded on 18 October 1850. The merchants gathered at the town hall in Adelgade to form an association and unanimously elected Jacob Hansen, Otto H. Mørch and R. Kaufmann to draft proposed bylaws.

On 22 October they met again and unanimously adopted the committee's proposal unchanged. The association was founded under the name "The Merchants' Association" with the purpose of looking after the trades' interests, promoting sociability through balls, outings and entertaining readings, and taking part in handling municipal matters.

Denmark's oldest merchants' association also intends to be Denmark's most lively, forward-thinking and active one.
